Checking In

Just checking in with everyone and yes I am still out of the gym right now another month and I'll be on my health insurance and I can finally get my foot checked out. It's really starting to hurt more and more and is really starting to worry me, I can't afford to be out of work nor can I afford to be out of the gym! I need to drop this weight and this is not helping what so ever.

Other than that life has been good to me, and I have been keeping on my diet.

Bad News

I'm sorry I haven't updated in a while but I've been very mad that I'm still having these bad foot pains and I don't know what they are from, so I've been staying out of the gym I don't want to possibly screw it up anymore than it already is. Only positive thing I have going is I'm staying strict to my diet so hopefully that will help me out.

It's friday, I just got paid and thats about it I'm not singing lol. Anyway workouts have been going good and feeling it in the legs and eating ALOT better then I was so I'm feeling good, it's going to be a little different going out tonight and not drinking and being out at a bar but I think I'll be just fine.

Because I Go Hard!

Sorry about not updating you in the past couple days I've been real busy! Had to take my tool box down to the shop so I could be prepared for today and this week. Spent the day with my Dad doing other errands, didn't get to the gym, but thats ok because I hit the gym hard on sunday to make up for what I missed. Other than that for the weekend I did awesome going out and not drinking at all so I think I can handle cutting it out because that is a big part of my calorie intake on the weekend.

Today was the first day in the shop and had a good time, it was an easy day but still getting everything down and I can't argue I work with some awesome and funny guys. Now back to what matters, The Gym lol. Myself and Nick Discussed A.K.A. Nick told me and I agreed I should do some interval training on the bike so I did so today hit it for 30 minutes did a little more than a 10 minute warm up and from there I did 5 intervals of 30 seconds as hard as I could on the bike and then off but I told myself to keep a RPM pace of 85-95 RPM's, finished out to 30 minutes then switched machines. Took a short break to get the legs loose again and hit the rowing the machine for 15 minutes and did 3000 meters. I know this isn't a crazy number for the rowing machine but it felt good went at a hard pace for 2 intervals of 30 seconds on this machine also.

All in all a good day today feeling a little weak but also with the switch in my diet the different kind of energy I have right now definitely a good switch.

Cardio w00t!

So I switched gyms today to join up with my friend Nick like I said. Hit up the bike and elliptical for a half hour got a good sweat in today! Nick is also hooking me up with a good diet plan to help me get on track, which i have been doing good at so far but it's always best to get a on a really good diet plan. ALso came to home to find out my parents are going to join a gym also! I was super pumped to hear that. Now i just have to work on getting there diets in check also.

Not too much else....Oh yeah I finished my training for work today! A little nervous to be starting in the shop on Monday but I'm in an awesome shop so I think I will make out great. Honestly can't wait to get behind the wheel of a bus. I got to drive 2 of them last week and it was fun I thought! Can't wait to start getting dirty again, gives you a sense of work paying off. I know that sounds weird but thats just how it is.

Working Hard or Hardly Working

Realizing yesterday that I feel like I'm not doing enough, I decided I have to hit the gym hard. Now I know many of you have offered me to come to the gym with you and I really do appreciate it, but I'm going to join with my close friend Nick. Why? Because we talked about it and even though putting yourself out in the public with a sort of "look at me, look at me" blog like I did, I need that extra get your ass to the gym lets go. With that being said I know I'm really going to have to watch what I eat, but I also have an idea of what i have to do with cardio and weight training.

I'm thinking 10 minute warm up (walk on the treadmill, or bike)
then 30 minutes on the elliptical
weight training for that day(more for tone then muscle gain, less weight more reps)
then 30 hard minutes back on the elliptical or bike

Also diet is extremely important so this weekend I'm heading to Sam's Club and going wild there lol.

Bike+Sweat


Worked up a good sweat today riding the bike/exercise bike. Had to jump on the exercise bike because I'm some problems with the bike on the trainer, I will be going to visit my friends down at Human Zoom hopefully in the next day or two to get this thing fixed up!

Burnin Rubber

First day on the Trainer and man is that tough to go through, its like a more comfortable stationary bike, the plus' of your own bike and all the cons of a stationary. Anyway I still hit it for a half hour up and down on speeds and couple minute or two brakes to adjust the seat and what not, but all in all a good ride and a good sweat!

The one crazy thing out the trainer in the resistance part (I guess you would call it) gets hot it's pretty crazy you have to be careful and not heat up your back wheel lol.

Other news, as most of you know I got a new job with Septa and today was the first time I to drive a bus! No I'm not a driver and I can't get you discounted bus pass' so don't ask. But that was a big thing for me to finally drive a bus!

It's Friday!

The weekend is finally upon us and a quick update.

Yesterday I went to visit a friend at his bike shop to go check out a trainer anddddddd I left with one haha.
Thank you Chad and everyone at Human Zoom for helping me out and keeping me on my way to a new me! I haven't had a chance to set it up but it will get done I promise.

Tomorrow I go in for some new ink and pending how feel after that (which usually is tired) I will set it all up and will post up pictures.

Going to get my walk on, then Celebrate a good friends birthday. Happy Birthday Matt!

Weigh in

And So it Begins!

So as you guys may know it is December 1st and well I got a little bit of a head start. Today will be an official weigh in and before picture. I'm a little nervous because i still have this pain in my foot and am not covered on my insurance until after 91st day of the new job, so lets hope it's nothing major and i keep doing what i have been.

Mom went and checked out a trainer yesterday and can't wait to pick up that bad boy and get riding on my bike again. I LOVE RIDING!! lol

Stupid Knees!

Today is a terrible day for me right now the knees are killing me and some other problems with my right foot in alot of pain so today im going to take it easy and walk 4 miles instead of the walk/run I've been doing. I was afraid this was going to happen, hurt the knee in May on vacation and now its bugging me alot, so in an attempt to give my knee a break I will walk instead of run. Plus tomorrow I will be hopefully picking up a trainer for my bike! It sucks that Cycle Sonic is closing but a plus for me because i may be able to get a steal of a price on a good trainer. So now I can ride my bike when it's cold outside and to be honest I'd rather be on my bike then running, I love riding too much.

The Push to Overcome the Laziness

Well last night was a long one. Went to the Balance and Composure, Tidal Fight, Bayside, and Senses Fail concert. Had a great time with awesome friends just wasn't in the greatest of moods. I don't know why i wasn't it was weird I felt misplaced for some reason, but luckily I have some great friends. after that headed back up the neighborhood hung out at some local bars then hit up the diner with some drunk hungry friends haha. Don't worry you two I love you two alot and you guys have shelter and fed me many of times. They know who they are.

Anyway after a long night and not getting in until about 4:30ish am, I woke up at 11am and it felt awesome to sleep that late again it's been a long time since i've done that. But in doing so I had the sudden urge to be really lazy and didn't want to go for a run at all! It was tough to finally get the motivation up to go and get moving, but lucky for me i have some great friends to help me get off my ass and get out there. I people understand when starting out on really anything having support and asking for help is the best thing possible.

So anyway did the 2 mile loop same as the past couple days just the second run i sprinted the last 50 yards, yeah it doesn't sound like anything special but it is to me. This is showing that i have the energy to push harder. Still a little sore but time to eat some food a little bit of meatloaf and mashed potato's.

Early Bird Gets The Worm

Thanks Alex for the title of this one hahaha. Anyways as it says I was up early today on my day off to go and take the last part of my CDL permit test, and I Passed!!!!! woot!! So to treat myself for that I decided why not go for another 2 mile walk/run (not really treating but just doing it earlier than usual). So i did just that, no timing or anything just wanting to finish the laps i start running which I have done so far and definitely felt shorter then yesterday too. I still have some things to do today before going out tonight, but i mite put them on hold i definitely want to get a nap in before going out tonight.

and well i'm at a loss for words so i'll end it here.

Second day of running/walking

So just got in a little bit ago from running/walking, I did good! I ran/walked around my development, I put it into mapmyrun.com and 1 time around my development is 0.4 miles. I went around 5 times walk,run,walk,run,walk. Do the math and that is 2 miles! My first 0.4 was roughly ran around in 4 minutes, the second run around I didn't time because I knew how my legs felt and knew it would be slower so really no need to time that lap yet. I did notice though, that my legs felt like I could of pushed them harder but because of the weight I am carrying it was just too much. So I take that as a good sign that I feel my legs are strong enough now to carry me later when I start to drop more weight, which is really exciting! I'm going to post up a Before picture tomorrow.

I didn't do any other workouts today so that will be tomorrow also.

Black Friday? what's that?

Another day another dollar, I have work today so no black friday shopping for me this year and I'm pumped I'm not in retail this year for it also, man was that crazy last year!

Anyway, I didn't get a run in yesterday after work :(. I was extremely tired, it was raining out, and I'm no going to attempt the treadmill at the house again since it almost took me out the other day lol. So I figured a free day a week was a good idea and made yesterday a free day I still very well, most likely ate around 2300 calories but it was better then i would of before so the calorie intake yesterday was still good.

Today after work I WILL be running as long as it's not raining again. I will keep the same pace with the running a lap walking a lap. I figure I'll keep at this until I i get my times on the laps up and work my way to running a full mile.

Well I have to go, at least have to squeeze breakfast in before I head out to work. Woke up a little late this morning lol.

First workout

Ok so I know I said December 1st but hey why not get a head start?

So it's a little cold here in philly and well I need to do wash so I didn't have any semi warm clothes to run/walk in, so i decided to hit up the treadmill that never gets used in the basement. The treadmill tracks you in tenths of a mile and displays a circle to show a quarter of a mile. So what I did was walk the 1st quarter, jog the 2nd, walk the 3rd and jog the 4th. Therefor that is a mile all together and then walked another half a mile so in total it was a 1.5 miles run/walk. Only thing that was a bummer was this treadmill belt seems to have a weight limit because when i was jogging on both laps everytime i brought my foot down I would stop the belt, which by the way is really scary! I thought I was going down!

After that I that i decided I wasn't done so i did this little workout using just body weight.
2x20 jumping jacks
2x10 left side lunges
2x10 right side lunges
2x10 forward lunges
2x10 push ups
2x10 sit ups
30 scissor kicks with 5 second holds at the end of each set

20 second breaks in between but I had a good music station on the tv, so I was dancing in between. For those of you who don't know me I like to dance, so why not add it into the workout right?

Regardless I think this was a good first workout to get the blood flowing and burn some calories.

Early Blog

Ok this is going to be a quicky since I have to leave for work soon and want to get breakfast in.

So for breakfast today I'm having a bowl of Honeynut Cheerios with a sliced banana with 1% milk, not too sure the calories but I know it's alot better then going to Wawa and getting there 2 breakfast sandwiches for 3 bucks. So it's a start.

I also would like to thank everyone for showing me support and taking the time to read my first blog and texting me telling your there for me and there to help! So much thanks I want to send out and what a time to do it on Thanksgiving Eve!

I get done work/training at 2:00 today so i'm aiming on going for my first run/walk after work probably through the park about a two mile stretch from start to finish, with some hills in there.

This is all new to me

Ok so I'm not your typical Blogger so the reason for me making this to help myself track myself during my fight to stop being obese.

Anyway My name is Terry I'm 24 years old, I live in Philadelphia Pa. and I'm obese and tired of being your typical jolly fat guy because well it's depressing and I'm really not that happy at all. Your clothes never fit right, you tend to sweat alot for the fact of how much weight your carry with yourself, have a hard time doing simple things such as tying your shoe laces, which by the way i hate to share that because it is really really embarrassing.

But the Reason i started this to have somewhere to write about my progress with working on losing weight. I found my inspiration from a guy named Ben Davis here is a link to his Blog http://bendoeslife.tumblr.com/. This guy who is the same age as myself had the drive to absolutely change himself for the better and after reading all 200+ pages of his Blog and watching his youtube videos of his progress I decided it's time i took charge of obesity problem also.

Now the funny thing is I'm like a half active obese guy lol. I've rode two 75 mile bike events called the City to the Shore Its a bike ride from pretty much coast to coast of south jersey. My first year I did with my friend Jeff and we finished in just under 6 hours! Man was I so pumped about that but I also rode a crap ton before the ride, but I got lazy after it. This year I rode with 7 others and was so pumped but didn't train well at all and ended up paying for it. I ended up having something happen where I was dragging the back brake on my bike (no clue how it happened) this killed me, I used so much energy I didn't need to use. i think it took almost 8 hours to finish. EEK!

With that being said I was always a chubby kid but was very active when I was young. But since I haven't been active I've used that as an excuse. "I've always been big i just need to lose a little bit of weight and I'll be fine" WRONG. I may have wide shoulders and be able to "hide" my weight but I'm still obese. Right now I don't have a good working scale so I'm guessing my weight is somewhere between 310-320 pounds. That is just insane and super unhealthy and I need to change. I aims for some where in the 220-230 pound range, I dont see myself 200 or under lol.

So Starting December 1st I embark on my journey to lose this horrible weight! The next 2 weeks I'm using to get my diet in check get a good scale and get a good cardio and moderate weight training workout in order. Lucky for me I have some awesome friends who love to workout and run like crazy! So it's getting late and it's just about my bed time lol.
